Genderqueer is an umbrella term that describes individuals who feel that they have a queer or non-normative experience with gender, either through their gender identity, their gender presentation, or other experiences of gender
It can refer to someone who cannot be categorized as a man or woman[1] or someone whose gender identity is different from societal expectation.[2]

History
The first known usage of ‘genderqueer’ was in 1995 by Riki Anne Wilchins in the Spring 1995 newsletter of Transexual Menace.[6]Further citation needed
Flags and Symbols
The first proposed flag of genderqueer was designed by Marilyn Roxie in June 2010[7], Marilyn proceeded to make and post another version in September 2010.[7][8]
Another version was made by the same individual in June 2011 and then further updated in June 2012.[9][7]
An alternate genderqueer flag was designed by Reddit user ultra_cricket_boy on February 20, 2020.[10]
