Image Upload Guide

Upload the main flag using Special:Upload. Ensure it's no larger than 2000px wide and/or 2000x tall, and opt to upload png if possible. Alternatively jpeg and webp formats are acceptable but must be categorised with artifact compression if applicable. Name it simply after its gender/orientation name (including the .png or .jpg). Add _creatorname or Alternate after the name if the file is already taken. Then upload. Do not include 'flag' in the name as it's unnecessary information.

Once uploaded, edit the summary. Type in {{ to open the template wizard and type in the template name 'Image'. See Template:Image for the template you should use. Try and fill out as many of the options as you can, as well as optionally describing the flag so it's easier for screen reader users.

List of tools to pick colours:

  • Firefox Only: Firefox has a built-in hex eyedropper, that will read the hex value of the any given pixel and copy it to your clipboard. There's images below to explain how you find it. (credit)
  • Chrome: Has a lot of extensions that do the same thing, I recommend this one.
  • If you can't add extensions and you aren't using firefox (you should be), use this site or this other site to upload the pictures to or any others that you can find.

Use this online tool to help find color and hue names.

If you struggle to add the template when you upload the picture, let us know in the edit summary or in the page itself and we'll approve it, as long as you actually add in the template as soon as you can.

Go to the options in the corner and select "More Tools".
From there select the "Eyedropper" tool. Firefox will let you select the colour of any pixel and copy it to your clipboard when you click.
