Transnominal is a term when the gender of one’s name differs from one’s assigned gender at birth or the name assigned to them at birth. This term relates to ‘transcending’ one’s birth name or identifying with a name other than one’s assigned name

It is important to note that they don’t have to necessarily be transgender in order to use this term or have name dysphoria, for instance, a Cis Man using the name Amelia.

For instance, one’s name at birth may be feminine in nature or could be traditionally feminine such as Amelia, but irrespective of one’s gender identity may use a name that is masculine in nature, neutral, unisex, etc. For instance, the individual may use the name Claude.
