Losaesthetic
Losaesthetic, also known as stranaesthetic, and formerly known as estranhoaesthetic, is a subset of frayaesthetic. The prefix losa originates from the English word loss, meaning "the partial or complete deterioration or absence of a physical capability or function".[1] The term describes a set of experiences where one may lose or gain aesthetic attraction in hyper-specific scenarios that cannot be explained by other known queer terminology (for example: vallisaesthetic or demiaesthetic). It is typically felt towards those that one does not know, or towards individuals who have a possibility of being known more or bonded with, whether that be platonically, romantically, etc.
Someone that is losaesthetic typically experiences all or nearly all of the following experiences:
- lose aesthetic attraction towards an individual when they gain knowledge of said individual;
- lose aesthetic attraction towards an individual when any sort of bond is gained with said individual;
- only gain aesthetic attraction towards an individual when a bond is gained with said individual, where this attraction may momentarily fade during the bond and return when the bond is strengthened;
- lose aesthetic attraction towards an individual without explanation;
- gain aesthetic attraction towards an individual when nothing is known about the individual, and feels that any attraction towards said individual feels redundant when they do gain knowledge of said individual.
History
The term was coined by Arlo on the 5th of April, 2024, and republished via a masterpost on the 25th of January, 2025.[2] It was originally published on Discord, then later published to Tumblr. The term was originally called estranhoaesthetic, named after the Portuguese word for strange or stranger - estranho.[3] The name was changed to losaesthetic on the 22nd of June, 2024 via a Discord poll. Losaesthetic won first place, stranaesthetic coming in second, and the results were posted on Tumblr shortly after.citation needed

The flag was created by Arlo on or before the 25th of January, 2025. It was created without a meaning.[2]
