Apconsugender, also known as Abscondinggender, describes the feeling of knowing what one’s gender isn't but not what it is, like one’s gender is hiding from them.[1]
This can refer to not knowing one’s gender's alignments or not knowing one’s specific label(s).
History
The first known mention of Apconsugender with an exact date is on a oneTube video by user thelesbiathan on November 22nd, 2015.citation needed
In 2016, it was mentioned in a comment on Finnish website VauvaFi was posted by an anonymous individual on June 22, 2016.[2] The user also lists a Tumblr post from a Tumblr blog genderfluidsupport.[2][1]
In 2019, the term became much more prevalent and began being shown in official sources. It has continued gaining popularity since.[3]
Etymology
Apconsugender comes from the word Abscond,[4]Better resource needed which means 'leave hurriedly and secretly, typically to avoid detection of or arrest for an unlawful action such as theft.' The reason for the spelling change is unknown.

On April 26th 2019, the original flag for Apconsugender was by Tumblr user genderqueer-dreams. The red is for knowing what one’s gender isn't, and the monochrome colors are for not knowing what it is.[3]
The gender’s symbol was created by Reddit user ChoccoGlxtch on December 29th 2025. The 'X' symbol represents knowing what your gender isn't, and the question mark inside the ellipse represents not knowing what your gender is.[6]
