Agenrine
Agenrine (also known as agenderine or agenine) is a gender quality used to describe those who present a specific set of traits that are not gendered.[1] These traits typically refer to one's gender identity or one's gender presentation. Though it is associated with genderless or agender individuals, it is not exclusive to them, and can be seen in women, men, enbies, and others.
The exact qualities of agenrinity depends greatly on culture and time period.
Western Agenrinity
Due to agenrinity encompassing traits that are not gendered, agenrinity is by its nature potentially the largest umbrella of traits as many aspects of society are not inherently associated with any particular gender. The below lists are non exhaustive and only encapsulate a very small part of agenrinity, and should be used as examples rather than whole encompassing lists.
Western society usually ascribes agenrine (non-gendered) personalities to be:
- creative
- curious
- honest
- playful
- funny[2]
As for appearance, agenrine (non-gendered) physical traits include:
- t-shirts, jeans, sweaters, sneakers, and other unisex casual wear;[3]
- rings, bands, and watches;
- piercings and tattoos;
- presenting with green, orange, black, gray, white, yellow, and brown colors.[4]
Agenrine (non-gendered) behavioral traits include:
- careers and hobbies such as acting, public speaking, and photography;
- sports such as general exercising, cycling, travelling, and skiing.[5]
Agenrine vs Neutral vs Androgynous
Agender is often confused with gender neutral, especially in regards to presentation. Both agender and gender neutral are considered to be outside of the gender binary, lacking both masculine and feminine traits.[6] Thus, these genders often express themselves using qualities that are expressed by anyone and everyone, regardless of gender - such as wearing a t-shirt (in comparison to wearing skirts which are seen as typically feminine). However, agenrine is a lack of not just feminine and masculine traits, but a lack of any gendered traits at all - including the binary as well as xenine, outherine, and more. Atrinary presentations (neither masculine, feminine, nor neutral) such as xenine and outherine are rarely seen in Western society, meaning agenrine is perceived more rudimentarily as neither masculine or feminine presenting, due to to having no readily available comparisons to xenine or outherine presenting individuals.[7]
Agenrine or neutral presentation is also often confused with androgynous presentation. The distinct difference is that agenrine or neutral expresses as neither a man nor a woman, whereas androgynous individuals may identify as both masculine and feminine.[3] For example, an agenrine or neutral individual wearing trousers and gloves, compared to an androgynous individual wearing both a skirt (feminine) and tie (masculine).
History
Agenrine was coined in a forum discussion posted by user danicamel, in 2018.[1]

The agenrine flag was created by Tumblr user imoga-pride in 2019, inspired by a neutral-gender flag but rotated so as not to be confused with other similar popular flags such as the aromantic flag.[8]
