Vallis (orientation)
Vallis (orientation) is an orientation prefix where one may experience attraction towards strangers, loses that attraction when a personal bond forms, then may gain that attraction back when the bond grows stronger.
Vallis may be described as a combination of fray- and demi-, where fray leads into demi.
Etymology
"Vallis" means "valley, vale" in Latin.[1] This represents the pattern of losing and regaining attraction as a personal bond develops.
History
Vallisromantic and vallissexual were coined on August 18, 2022 by Reddit user AnonymousHermitCrab.[2]
The Vallissexual flag was created on April 30, 2023 by Tumblr user xaneitylost, based on the vallisromantic flag.[3] An alternate flag was made on September 6, 2023 by Reddit user SxtanChild[4], two more alternate flags based on SxtanChild’s flag were created by deactivated Reddit user acountryball on September 7, 2023.[5]
