The term Andro- has a few definitions and can refer to:
- One having exclusive attraction to men (Synonymous with Maesexual), this definition does not address the individual who is attracted to menâs gender identity.
- One has an attraction to those have a masculine presentation, regardless of the individual in questionâs gender identity. (Synonymous with Mascsexual)
- One having attraction to those with âmale anatomyâ regardless of the individualâs gender identity. (Note: This specific definition has been regarded by some to be transphobic/genitalist as it reduces individuals down to their genitals. And having attraction to oneâs genitals is considered a sexual preference rather than an orientation.)
History
Controversy
The term has had controversy over some of its definition, in particular potentially being transphobic or genitalist due to the potentially having a prefer to oneâs genitals rather than actual gender identity. It has controversy over the fact it could mean that you are reducing trans individuals for example, to their genitalia.
