Abri- is an orientation prefix that means ‘Shelter’ or a place of refuge in English[1] and ‘under cover’ in French[2]

The orientation prefix is a form of sexuality that changes. It refers to an individual whose sexuality doesn’t change but the labels they use do change.

The individual’s feelings generally feel the same and is tied up with not knowing what they feel towards certain genders.

History

The term Abrisexual may have been coined by FANDOM Wiki user: Gotrose, in February, 2021. The flag was created alongside it. citation needed

An alternate Abriromantic flag was created by Tumblr user aquariclione on October 10, 2021.[3]

On January 13, 2023, Tumblr user redactedterms created an alternate Abrisexual flag. The color meanings are: dark green for complex attraction and intrigue, green for m-spec aspects and vitality, yellow for unity and varioriented aspects, peach for mono-spec aspects and bravery, and pink for label fluidity, a-spec aspects, and passion.[4]
